Frequently asked questions

What's included in the ticket?

Entry to Leonardo da Vinci's manor house, the underground galleries and the seven-hectare park with his full-scale machines — all in one ticket. Audio stations and a free augmented-reality app are included.

Do I need to choose a date and time?

No. The ticket is open-dated with no time slot, valid on any open day in 2026, so you can visit whenever suits you.

Is this a skip-the-line ticket?

Clos Lucé doesn't use timed entry, so there's rarely a long wait. Your e-ticket lets you scan straight in without queueing at the ticket desk to buy.

Is it good for children?

Very. It's the most hands-on château in the Loire — children can work the full-scale machines, follow the outdoor discovery trail and use the augmented-reality app. Easily half a day for a family.

How long should I allow?

Between 1.5 and 3 hours for the house, galleries and park together. Garden and machine lovers spend longer, especially in fine weather.

Is there anything extra in summer?

Yes. A temporary exhibition runs roughly early June to mid-September, and there are evening openings in high summer. The core visit — house, galleries and park — is the same year-round.

How do I get there from Tours?

Amboise is about 25 km east of Tours — around 20 minutes by regional train (TER) or car. Clos Lucé is about 2 km from Amboise station, walkable or a short bus ride.

Do you sell child or reduced tickets?

We sell the full-price adult ticket. Under-7 (free), youth, student and disabled rates are booked directly at the château with proof of eligibility — we're glad to point you to the right place.

What if my plans change?

Because the ticket is open-dated and valid all season, you can simply go on another open day. All sales are final, except that we refund in full if the château cancels.
